
To celebrate the Horses’ Birthday Racing Victoria’s Off the Track program is today throwing an equine party at Geelong Racecourse for more than 50 retired racehorses including Subzero the gallant grey who won the 1992 Melbourne Cup.August 1st marks the standardised birthday for all horses born in the southern hemisphere. The date is used to standardise the thoroughbred racing industry which uses it to put horses in their age grades for races. The birthday celebrations will feature a variety of equine information sessions plus a range of activities including: blood readings X-rays physical assessments for soundness farrier services dental services nutritional advice Off the Track re-training tips and saddle fitting advice.Established in 2012 the Off the Track program aims to facilitate and encourage the placement of retired thoroughbred racehorses into second careers.The event will be supported by Tabcorp and broadcast live on Michael Felgate’s Racing Pulse show on RSN.
Throughout the morning retired racehorses will be receiving a range of treatments from a variety of equine experts. Interview opportunities
