Wil Valor Wedding Suit Masterclass:  Tuesday 4 December

In breaking news, the modern wedding is now about the suit! The groom’s suit and that of his groomsmen and crew are major considerations. And since Australia said YES, weddings are so hot right now! So, there’s  no more standing in the shadows gentlemen – your time to shine at the alter is now. Terrified? Don’t be…. with over 3,500 wedding suits under his custom-made cuff, Mark Ferguson, director of bespoke gentleman’s tailor and fashion curator, Wil Valor, knows a thing or two about tying the knot in style and on Tuesday next week, he’s prepared to share!

The Wil Valor Wedding Suit Master Class will be held on Tuesday 4 December at Wil Valor in Brisbane Quarter. And it’s open to grooms and partners and brides to alike!

“I created and developed the Wedding Suit Master Class to help grooms-to-be to navigate the journey of finding the perfect suit for their dream wedding. There’s so much information online for grooms-to-be and I found many of my clients were confused and had similar questions when it came to finding a wedding suit. Shopping for a wedding suit should be fun, so to make the process less overwhelming for grooms-to-be, I created an easy to digest master class that uncovers all the options available while sharing some of the latest style trends,” says Mark.

The Wil Valor Wedding Suit Master Class will share insight into:

  • The difference between Hire, Off the Rack, Made-to-Measure Bespoke: Each option has its advantages and disadvantages and it’s important as a groom you know the difference.
    • For instance, hiring a suit is probably your least expensive route, costing as little as $200. However, the downside is the fit isn’t going to be anywhere near perfect, and you’ll discover that the selection of styles and colours is somewhat limited.
    • The next option would be to purchase an off the rack suit – while slightly more expensive, you’ll get to wear it multiple times and you’ll have access to a wide variety of brands, styles and colours. The downside, the fit still won’t be perfect, and you may end up spending a bit of time going from store to store searching for the right suit.
    • Finally, dress to impress with a tailor made suit. On the upper end, a tailor-made suit can cost as much as $3,000, but starts from at the reasonable price of $1500. You’ll get a custom fit, along with personalised services from an expert. And, a bespoke tailored suit means your suit is one-of-a-kind and you won’t see anyone else wearing the same suit as you.
  • When is the right time to go suit shopping for a seamless and stress-free experience?
  • Find out exactly what you need to know before you start suit shopping.
  • Don’t want a suit, no problem! There are plenty of alternatives.
  • From formal to semi-formal, afternoon to evening, when is a bow tie appropriate?
  • From black tie to casual, wedding dress code explained.
  • What are the different level of dress and what is appropriate for your wedding
  • Who pays? How to work out if and what your groomsmen contribute.
  • Current colour and style trends for 2019.
  • What makes the perfect fit?

An informative and practical evening, grooms-to-be are encouraged to bring along their partner and/or best man as Mark Ferguson shares inside knowledge into the wedding industry and showcases the latest looks and trends for 2019.

Brisbane-based fashion label White Label Noba has done it again – unveiling a stunning Spring Summer Collection, titled Wanderlust – and that it was. Wanderlust by White Label Noba is a nod to the colours and whimsy of Monet’s Spring and features subdued pastel hues, ethereal shapes, fabrics as light as sunshine and pieces that pay tribute to femininity.

Some 180 guests attended the launch event this week, it’s one that has become a must-attend n the Brisbane calendar and it didn’t disappoint. Hosted at the Rooftop Terrace at the new Emporium Hotel on level 21, by the edge of the infinity pool and with breathtaking views of the city, the show opened with a dazzling synchronised swimming display with three performers in beautiful White Label Noba bathers. The highly anticipated Collection included more than 40 individual pieces with the run way show peppered with gasps by the crowd. An after party was held in the Terrace Bar with Brisbane super band SHEPPARD performing – they are huge fans of the label with pieces named after the two sisters!

WHITE LABEL NOBA unveils Spring 2018: Wanderlust

Imagine, if you will, a stroll through Monet’s garden, a walk through the famous floral sanctuary that inspired so many of the French impressionist’s wondrous works of art that celebrate Spring.  It would be quite simply, magical.  Such a stroll is the inspiration behind White Label Noba’s Spring 2018 Collection. It is a nod to the colours and whimsy of Monet’s Spring and the beauty of wanderlust, featuring subdued pastel hues, ethereal shapes, fabrics as light as sunshine and pieces that pay tribute to femininity – it is a season of joy.

The highly anticipated Collection includes more than 40 individual pieces. Based on a palette of Blush (think husky pink and vintage rose), Teal and Silver, against a foundation canvas of strong black, white and French navy, SPRING 2018 by White Label Noba features custom-created prints and stunning tulle, lace and cotton pieces. Textural touches for which White Label Noba is famed make the season even more special – sequins, crystals, lace, pintucks, pleats, ruffles, frills, beading and statement trims. The season is an entirely wearable and covetable collection of sophisticated lifestyle pieces; dreamy silks, luxurious cottons, statement lace and more – founded in clean classic lines to create a simple elegance, celebrating the unique beauty of every woman.

White Label Noba is a stunning success story, born of the talent and passion of designer and owner, Tracey Watkins, who again has delivered a Collection that is as wearable, as it is breathtaking. It’s another chapter in this extraordinary story of the little fashion label that could is told.

White Label Noba – the brand, the background

Often the spark of passion is lit many years before it burns brightly and this is indeed true for Tracey Watkins, founder, owner and designer of White Label Noba.  A label that has become one of Australia’s most loved and sought after fashion brands. Unlike others, hers has not been a journey dictated by fabrics, patterns, sequins, seasons, colours, cuts, toiles and trends. This is a story of inspiration by an Australian legend and many years later, fulfilling a dream to create beautifully crafted and curated fashion pieces that celebrate women of all sizes. The sparkle and flow of luxe fabric is the realisation of this dream.

White Label Noba launched in 2011. While it feels like more than just seven short, frenetic years, White Label Noba is a label that defies time. Rather than conform to the transience of fashion, Tracey designs for style, for joy and for love; hence her tagline Love Love White Label Noba.

Ever-creative, with a sharp eye for colour, cut and contrast, Tracey studied Interior Design and ran her own business. It was during her studies that she worked and modelled for Maggie Tabberer, an iconic Australian fashion leader and role model for millions.

It was Maggie T who provided Tracey the inspiration she sought to feed the existing hunger to design and create beautiful clothes and shoes for all women, not just the perfect 10s of the world. She therefore followed her heart and after four years, eight seasons and three Limited Edition MBFF ranges later, White Label Noba has pride of place in women’s wardrobes across the country.  And this is just the beginning.

From the label’s flagship boutique in Brisbane’s Hawthorne, Tracey has created more than clothes. Through her own incredibly personable and nurturing approach, she has fostered a family of While Label Noba devotee’s – women who wait, breath-held for the next season, for the new design look.

“White Label Noba is a very special label. It’s one that celebrates all woman, of any age and size. I found it very difficult and incredibly frustrating myself to find clothes that were both stylish and flattering – given I sit in the curvy category. When my original vision to dress plus-size women in beautiful clothing resonated with women of ALL shapes and sizes, it became very clear to me that in fact, size really doesn’t matter – how you feel when you wear a piece of beautiful clothing does. And that’s the secret behind White Label Noba,” said Tracey.

Held in the theme ‘Sky Forest’, this sci-fi nature theme will transform the venue into a futuristic forestry wonderland. Intricate designs, textures, and visual art will be used along with lighting techniques and sounds of nature. The atmosphere of the event will have guests feeling mesmerized as they watch the theatrical runway come to life. Promising diversity and beauty, the models will don exquisite butterfly wings, a symbol to promote that beauty comes in many different forms. Show Producer, Andrew Claridge (Show Producer, MBFWA 2002-2018 and GCFW 2018) is among the production team. “The production team have worked over time to put this together.” Says Andrew, “Couture is something Australia does so well, I’m surprised a show like this had not come to exist sooner.”

It is both inside and outside, it is in your grace and your triumph over adversity. We want to promote both beauty and diversity in one and we believe Tess and Kelly exemplify this.”

The Trust Bar and Restaurant has been chosen as the venue for the official Angels with Wings 2018 Media Launch on 23 October. This iconic Melbourne venue, formerly known as the Customs House building in the 1800’s, was the house that brought international culture, food and fashion into Melbourne.

Dressed AU is proud partner of Mercy Ships, a global charity that aims to help those in need of aid across the world on one of their many travelling hospital ships. The aid is welcome to people of all walks of life, regardless of age, gender or race. On the night of the runway, there will be silent auctions including a piece created by Tracie Eaton specifically for the event. All auction proceeds will go towards providing funding and aid to Mercy Ships.

Angels with Wings is only one of six productions created by the Executive Producer, Neva Weber. She hopes to take the fashion events in Australia to new heights and has her eyes set on the Angels with Wings events in Sydney 2019 and New York 2021
